Friday, March 29th

Some of you had problems with your plot map
Here is an example
Slight deviation from our schedule:
Today you will need to
1. Create 5 Shakespeare Insults.  You will need to select from each column and combine them to create an insult.  Paste 2 of your insults onto this Wallwisher page.  Click anywhere on the wall, put in your name and then paste in your insult. Once you have done this, you will need to pull down a text box and post your 5 insults to the Drama page of ePortfolio. Title it Shakespearean Insults.
2. Complete 3 journal entries in the voice of one of the characters.  Be sure to use events from the play and ‘speak’ in their voice.  You will need to begin by providing a quote from play and then continue journal. You can use contemporary language for the bulk of the journal (after the quote.)  Your response must be at least 75 words long.

Scholars should be studying the Characters from play and the Key Facts about play .  Here is the plot diagram for the play.  Click here for a variety of Power Points

Tuesday

“There is no world without Verona walls”

I can’t believe that I have BANISHED!! I just wed my only true love and now I must leave her.  No. No. No.  I would die first.  How unjust Prince Escalus is! How uncaring and unfeeling!  To be without my Juliet is to be without air or water.  I will wither and die.

Monday

Paraphrase these poetic devices

Take this survey

You will need to apply the themes and issues within Romeo and Juliet to modern life and work on solutions to age-old problems.  You are going to have to research and present your findings about one of the themes presented in the play:

  • communicating with parents
  • dealing with peer pressure
  • maintaining self-control
  • combating hate crimes
  • preventing suicide
  • uselessness of violence
  • danger of dishonesty
  • destruction of revenge

Today you will need to select 4 of these topics and brainstorm solutions to these problems.  What can we do to make some of these things better?
