GLE: 1d tracing etymology

GLE: 2c Identify and explain story elements, including the revelation of character through dialect, dialogue, dramatic monologues, soliloquies

  1. Copy word of the day on vocabulary card sheet (You Do)
  2. SSR-respond in reading log, use response stems (We read, Ms B gives topic and You write in journals)
  3. Journal-respond in 1 or more paragraphs to the following: “When the going gets tough the tough get going.” Class discussion
  4. VSA-Narrative elements
  5. Read aloud/Mini-lesson focusing on narrative (story) elements; complete story map/plot diagram – focus on characterization
  6. paired reading: Thank You , M’am – complete characterization chart
  7. Exit slip: Draw and list the five basic parts of a plot sequence
