Identify the elements of Sonnets: lines, pattern, 2 types, etc.

Here are the rules for the sonnet:

 It has fourteen lines.
It follows a regular rhyme pattern.
It is usually written in iambic pentameter.

There are two traditional types of sonnet:

Italian/Petrarchan sonnet – the first eight lines (the octave) pose a problem, which is responded to in the last six lines (the sestet).

English/Shakespearean sonnet, three four-line units are followed by a couplet or two-line unit. Some modern poets, like Frost, create their own types of sonnet.
